Banking by and for Indigenous people

Totem is a Native American woman-owned digital bank that provides banking services designed for Native Americans. Totem gives Native Americans the access and opportunity to fully participate in the modern economy. Totem founder Amber Buker was inspired to build Totem when she faced the systemic barriers that prevent Native Americans from using the tools and programs intended to help Native Americans become homeowners. Native Americans are unbanked at the highest rate of any community in the US, and are the most likely group to be credit invisible. Totem’s culturally relevant product, financial education, and tribal partnerships are all designed to help Natives overcome these barriers.
